Job summary

Graphic Packaging International in Solon, Ohio is seeking a Finishing Operator to set up and operate straight-line gluers and related equipment for folding and gluing cartons.

You will monitor feeding, detect defects, log materials in SAP, and support SQF compliance while maintaining clean, orderly work areas and assisting with maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience operating plant machinery, preferably in a lead capacity.
• Basic computer skills and data entry.
• Familiar with SQF compliance standards.
• Familiar with Food defense compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Observe automatic feeding, folding, and gluing to detect machine malfunctions.
• Check completed work for defects and adjust machinery to correct variations.
• Pack finished product into corrugate boxes and palletize.
• Print labels and maintain time and materials reports in SAP and RF Gen.
• Perform preventive maintenance and assist with cleaning and housekeeping.

Job Details

Sets up and operates straight-line gluers and related peripheral/supporting equipment for the purpose of manufacturing folded and glued cartons. Keep building in clean and orderly condition and to assist in the SQF Audits while maintaining SQF standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Observes automatic feeding, folding, and gluing of cartons to detect machine malfunctions
• Checks completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to work order specifications, and adjust machinery as necessary to correct variations
• Packs finished product into corrugate boxes
• Palletizes finished product
• Prints labels
• Keeps daily time and materials usage reports and records information in SAP and RF Gen
• Performs Preventative Maintenance
• Disassembles machines to maintain, repair, or replace broken or worn parts, using hand tools
• Assists temporary employees with understanding task assignments while Reinforcing SQF standards and Graphic Packaging Internationals core values.
• Performs housekeeping duties
• Installs and adjust guide assemblies, forming bars, and folding mechanisms according to box blank dimensions and work order specifications, using hand tools
• Moves controls to regulate tension on pressure rolls, to synchronize speed of machine components, and to adjust pressure of the glue
• Adjusts machine controls to correct variations
• Monitors pressure of the glue

Required Skills and Experience

Required Skills

• Basic computer skills, data entry
• Visual Color Discrimination, the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors
• Familiar with SQF compliance standards
• Familiar with Food defense compliance standards
• Has mechanical aptitude

Required Experience

• High School Diploma, GED
• Prior experience operating plant machinery - preferrably in a lead capacity

Physical Demands

• Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lb.
• Occasional climbing, stooping, bending and overhead reaching.
• Frequent standing and walking.
• Fine hand manipulation.
• Grasping and gripping.
