Job summary

South Bay Solutions is seeking a Finishing & Deburring Technician in Fremont, CA. You will perform detailed finishing on machined components, removing burrs and refining surfaces to meet dimensional and cosmetic specs.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing setting where quality is paramount.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in manufacturing, machining, metal finishing, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in precision manufacturing, machining, finishing, deburring, polishing, or related production environments.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Experience using hand-held finishing tools, grinders, polishers, files, abrasive materials, and precision finishing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Knowledge of surface finish requirements, cosmetic standards, and quality inspection techniques preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from machined components.
  • Perform precision finishing, polishing, blending, and detailing operations in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, travelers, routings, and work orders to identify dimensional and cosmetic finishing requirements.
  • Improve surface quality and component appearance by blending machining marks and applying required finishing techniques.
  • Inspect completed parts using magnification devices, measuring instruments, and surface finish inspection equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Ensure finished products meet established quality, cosmetic, and workmanship standards prior to inspection or assembly.
  • Handle and store parts properly to prevent damage, contamination, or traceability issues.

Position Summary

The Finishing & DeburringTechnician is responsible for performing detailed finishing operations on machined components to ensure compliance with dimensional, cosmetic, and quality requirements. This role focuses on removing burrs, refining surfaces, blending tool marks, and enhancing the overall appearance and functionality of precision-manufactured parts.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and experienced in manufacturing environments where quality, precision, and workmanship are critical to customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from machined components.
  • Perform precision finishing, polishing, blending, and detailing operations in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and customer specifications.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standards and 5S practices.
  • Follow all safety policies, environmental requirements, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to identify improvement opportunities and resolve production concerns.
  • Assist with additional manufacturing and production support activities as required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, sit, or move throughout the workday while performing detailed finishing operations.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong visual acuity, including close vision, depth perception, color recognition, and focus adjustment.
  • Capability to perform repetitive hand movements requiring precision and consistency.
Working Environment
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, cutting fluids, oils, abrasives, and fine particulates.
  • Work performed around operating manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, and other equipment as necessary.
  • Compliance with all safety procedures and environmental regulations is required.
