Weir in Portland, OR is seeking a Finishing Cell Operator to support grinding and assembly of metal cast components onsite Monday-Thursday. You’ll rotate through several work cells, perform precision grinding and fitting, and help with painting and packaging while maintaining a strong safety focus.

The role requires hands-on experience with hand tools, the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Operate grinders and belt sanders to grind and fit metal cast assemblies with precision.
• Use hand grinding tools and dimensional gauges to fit adapters, points, and stainless sleeves.
• Engage in hands-on manufacturing tasks including grinding, fitting, painting, and packaging.
• Support a zero-harm safety culture and commit to safety practices.

What you'll do

• Production Operations: Operate adjustable table-mounted grinders and belt sanders to grind and fit metal cast assemblies, ensuring precision and quality in every piece. Daily tasks include rotating through multiple work cell areas such as Stack/Wedge, Wedge-Grind, and Saw-Grind operations.
• Quality Control: Use hand grinding tools and dimensional gauges to fit adapters, points, and stainless sleeves accurately, contributing to the reliability of finished products.
• Collaboration & Daily Responsibilities: Engage in hands-on manufacturing tasks including grinding, fitting, painting, and packaging.

What you'll bring

Must-haves:

• Experience with hand tools and physically demanding roles involving lifting and moving up to 40 pounds regularly.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with attention to detail.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness and ability to become forklift certified and use a full-face respirator safely.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience working with steel, including forming and cutting.
• Previous manufacturing or fabrication experience, especially in grinding or foundry operations.
• Forklift operation experience.
• Strong team player with adaptability and a hands-on approach.
