Job summary

Okland Construction is seeking an experienced concrete construction leader to oversee place-and-finish operations on large projects in Utah. You will plan pours, coordinate manpower, equipment, and logistics, and ensure safety, quality, and on-schedule delivery through strong field leadership.

The role requires 5+ years in concrete construction, prior superintendent-level experience, and the ability to read drawings and schedules.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of concrete construction experience with place-and-finish operations.
  • Experience as a Superintendent or equivalent field leadership overseeing crews.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete placement, finishing, curing, saw cutting, QC, and sequencing.
  • Experience planning and executing large/complex pours.
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop field teams while maintaining safety and quality accountability.
  • Strong communication, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends when required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all concrete place-and-finish operations, safely and per project quality standards.
  • Plan and coordinate concrete placements, including manpower, equipment, materials, deliveries, sequencing, and site logistics.
  • Lead pre-pour planning meetings and confirm crews, equipment, materials, and site conditions are ready before placement activities begin.
  • Oversee concrete placement, finishing, curing, saw cutting, and protection of completed work.
  • Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and pour plans to identify challenges and develop field solutions.
  • Monitor concrete quality, production goals, and field productivity while ensuring compliance with project specifications, tolerances, and FF/FL requirements.
  • Coordinate with project leadership, foremen, trade partners, and field teams to align concrete activities with overall project schedules.
  • Communicate short-term work plans and resource needs to maintain efficient field operations.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture through pre-task planning, safe work practices, and field accountability.
  • Mentor and develop foremen and craft professionals while setting clear expectations for safety, quality, and performance.
  • Foster teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement throughout concrete operations.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
Field Leadership & Operations
  • Lead all concrete place-and-finish operations, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project quality standards.
  • Plan and coordinate concrete placements, including manpower, equipment, materials, deliveries, sequencing, and site logistics.
  • Lead pre-pour planning meetings and confirm crews, equipment, materials, and site conditions are ready before placement activities begin.
  • Oversee concrete placement, finishing, curing, saw cutting, and protection of completed work.
Planning, Quality & Production
  • Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and pour plans to identify challenges and develop practical field solutions.
  • Monitor concrete quality, production goals, and field productivity while ensuring compliance with project specifications, tolerances, and FF/FL requirements.
  • Coordinate with project leadership, foremen, trade partners, and field teams to align concrete activities with overall project schedules.
  • Communicate short-term work plans and resource needs to maintain efficient field operations.
Safety & Team Development
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture through pre-task planning, safe work practices, and field accountability.
  • Mentor and develop foremen and craft professionals while setting clear expectations for safety, quality, and performance.
  • Foster teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement throughout concrete operations.
YOU'RE READY FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional construction, engineering, or trade-related education preferred.
  • 5+ years of concrete construction experience with significant experience in concrete place-and-finish operations.
  • Previous experience as a Superintendent or comparable field leadership role overseeing concrete crews and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete placement, finishing techniques, curing practices, saw cutting, quality control, and placement sequencing.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing large and/or complex concrete pours.
  • Strong understanding of manpower planning, production tracking, equipment utilization, and field logistics.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop field teams while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, schedule, and productivity.
  • Strong communication, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours that support concrete placement schedules, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends when required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, or other complex construction projects.
  • Experience overseeing high-production concrete placements and large slab pours.
  • Knowledge of FF/FL requirements and concrete quality-control processes.
  • Experience working with self-perform concrete operations.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
