Job description

Fingerprinting Specialist

Department: Human Resources

Employment Type: Part Time

Location: Chelsea, MI

Reporting To: Danielle Lobdell

Compensation: $15.00 - $17.00 / hour

Description

The Fingerprinting Specialist helps caregivers complete the fingerprinting step of the qualification process so they can move forward toward caring for older adults. This role combines friendly customer service with accurate information handling and attention to required procedures.

The ideal team member is patient, dependable, and comfortable helping people through an unfamiliar process. They bring a calm, positive approach to challenging interactions and can help applicants feel heard while keeping the process moving.

Paid training is provided to become a certified fingerprinting agent with our vendor partner.

We care about doing things well. State regulatory requirements mean accuracy and high standards are part of the job, but that doesn’t mean our management style is rigid.

We’re caring, approachable, and flexible within those requirements. We’ll provide paid training, clear expectations, and room to take ownership of your work—not micromanage your day. Our job is to help clear major roadblocks, provide support when you need it, and give you the autonomy to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome applicants and create a friendly, respectful experience.
  • Explain the fingerprinting process clearly, answer questions, and communicate next steps.
  • Use patience and positive conflict management skills to ease tension, redirect frustration, and guide applicants toward practical solutions.
  • Verify applicant information and complete required documentation accurately.
  • Capture fingerprints using the vendor partner’s equipment and procedures.
  • Follow applicable state regulatory requirements, vendor standards, and company procedures.
  • Protect the confidentiality of applicant information.
  • Keep the workspace organized and help appointments run smoothly.
  • Communicate scheduling, documentation, or processing concerns to the appropriate team member.
  • Handle routine issues independently within established guidelines and seek support when a concern requires additional help.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Customer service experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong patience, communication, and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and professional when an applicant is frustrated or a process is delayed.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accurate work.
  • Comfort using computers and learning new equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Dependability and availability for the stated schedule.
  • Willingness to complete paid training and become a certified fingerprinting agent through our vendor partner.
  • Interest in supporting caregivers and the older adults they serve.
Benefits

Along with paid training and a supportive, encouraging team, we offer benefits that help you take care of yourself and give you more flexibility.

  • Daily Pay — Work today, get paid tomorrow, giving you more flexibility over when you access your earnings.
  • Team Member Assistance Program
  • Paid time off — Time to rest, recharge, and take care of personal priorities.
