Job summary

Washington State Patrol is seeking a Fingerprint Technician 2 (In-Training) to perform advanced fingerprint identification and maintain criminal records within the Justice Information Division. The role involves classifying fingerprints of unknown individuals and suspects and supporting criminal history data for law enforcement and courts across the state.

The incumbent will ensure accurate data entry, maintain system integrity, and work with internal and external agencies to provide fingerprint

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• At least one year of experience in a recognized law enforcement agency.
• One year of experience in fingerprint pattern determination/ridge encoding using AFIS/ABIS.
• One year of college coursework in law enforcement.
• Ability to work rotating shifts every six months including weekends.
• Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation including a polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced technical fingerprint identification and maintain criminal records.
• Classify and compare fingerprints of unknown persons and criminal suspects using appropriate methods.
• Process, maintain, and support criminal history record information provided by law enforcement agencies and courts.
• Ensure accurate entry and updates of information, contributing to division objectives.
