Job summary

The Peacock Inn is seeking a Server/Bartender for its fine dining team in Princeton, New Jersey. You will deliver exceptional service, present menus, take orders, prepare and serve beverages, and build rapport with guests to create memorable experiences.

Ideal candidates have at least 4 years of bar and fine dining experience, strong knowledge of wine and cocktails, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Summary

The Peacock Inn Restaurant aims to provide an elegant and exceptional dining experience enhanced by attentive, sophisticated décor, and a contemporary approach to cuisine. We are seeking a Server/Bartender to join our fine dining team.

The ideal candidate must possess extensive knowledge of food, liquors, aperitifs, cocktails and wine. Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs.

Essential Functions

• Orchestrate food and beverage service for a station of tables and bar guests.
• Present menus, take orders, and offer thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including wine, beer, and craft cocktails.
• Develop rapport with guests to ensure a memorable and personalized experience.
• Maintain a deep knowledge and passion for food, wine, spirits, and service standards.
• Monitor and restock bar inventory and supplies throughout service.
• Execute restaurant vision and policies with consistency and professionalism.
• Handle guest complaints or special requests with tact and efficiency.
• Enforce health, safety, and alcohol regulations and best practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and service areas.
• Process guest payments and balance receipts accurately at the end of shift.

Requirements

• At least 4 years' experience year of bar and fine dining restaurant experience preferred
• Must be creative, team-oriented, and self-motivated
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards.
• Ability to improvise and make decisions during service while adhering to protocol.
• Moderate physical efforts required: standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing, lifting of weights up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, humidity, and kitchen/bar elements.
