DescriptionThe Host/Hostess is the vital first impression of our dining experience, setting the tone for every guest’s visit. Responsible for warmly welcoming and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, and maintaining smooth flow in the dining room, the Host ensures guests feel valued from arrival to departure. This role requires exceptional communication skills, poise under pressure, and a genuine passion for hospitality.Key ResponsibilitiesGreet guests promptly and courteously, providing a warm and sincere welcomeManage reservations efficiently, taking calls, recording all necessary information, and confirming bookings as per standing proceduresDetermine and control the number of reservations accepted per shift to maintain optimal flow and service standardsSeat guests evenly across all sections to ensure a balanced and attractive dining room and fair distribution of guests among serversMaintain an accurate count of guests seated in each station throughout the shiftAccurately manage waitlist when applicable—provide estimated wait times within five minutes and explain the wait system clearly and courteously to guestsCoordinate with service and bus staff to ensure guest needs are met promptly, including special party seating and table adjustmentsComplete and relay telephone messages promptly (within 10 minutes) to the appropriate team memberMonitor and coordinate cleanliness of washrooms and host area in collaboration with bussersKeep the host desk and waiting area clean, organized, and welcoming at all timesHandle gift certificate sales with accuracy and accountabilityMove tables and seating arrangements as needed to accommodate party sizesEngage with guests pleasantly, maintaining a positive attitude and good humor in all interactionsCommunicate effectively with guests and team members to ensure seamless service deliveryQualificationsMinimum 1 year experience in a fine-dining restaurant environmentStrong math skills and the ability to manage waitlists and seating charts accuratelyExperience with OpenTable reservation systemFamiliarity with menu items, daily specials, restaurant layout including table and station numbersPunctual, dependable, and able to adhere to scheduled shifts consistentlyWarm, outgoing, and sincere personality with excellent interpersonal skillsPhysical ability to stand for long periods and move safely throughout the restaurant environmentComfortable working in a fast-paced, noisy, and sometimes crowded settingAbility to safely move chairs, highchairs, and booster seats as neededFlexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidaysMust have Clark County Food Handler card and Alcohol Awareness CardIdeal Candidate TraitsFriendly and approachable with a natural talent for hospitalityOrganized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyCalm and professional under pressure, maintaining composure during busy service periodsEffective communicator who can interact positively with guests and team membersPassionate about creating memorable guest experiences and contributing to a positive team culture
