Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Salary to commensurate with experience
The Hiring range for this position is $23.07-$28.85/Hourly

Primary Duties Or Responsibilities
- Processing payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Providing customer service and responding to inquiries in-person, over the phone, and electronically
- Perform accounting support work involving the review, balancing, and reconciliation of various financial data
- Responsibilities may include entering data, payment and invoices into automated financial systems
- Create purchase requisitions, change orders, and journal entries
- Prepares and reviews various financial reports
- Communicates and resolves related issues
- Reviewing documents for compliance with applicable policies and procedures
- Compiling and generating reports; providing customer service and responding to inquiries
- Perform billing, credit and collections functions
- Maintaining records, systems, and inventories of supplies
- Serves as custodian for department credit card
- Preparing and processing data uploads
- Conducting research into area issues
- Responding to inquiries and issues
- Making and documenting adjustments to accounts
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Must have excellent customer services skills, a positive attitude, and be able to work with various work group levels within Public Works and other city departments
- Operates a variety of office equipment including personal computer with varied software
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- At least (2) years of accounting experience including experience using personal computers with software related to assigned financial support function
- At least (1) year of customer service-orientated experience
Knowledge
- Knowledge of standard office procedures
- General business practices
- Report formatting and records maintenance
- Office management principles
- Personal computers including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software application programs
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills over the phone and in-person
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Skill in operating a personal computer with related software
- Efficiently and accurately key information using a keyboard
Abilities
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, citizens, and contractors
- Exercise sensitivity in customer interactions
- Handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Compile and prepare reports
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
- Work independently without extensive oversight
- Use a variety of office equipment
- Supportive team player with a positive attitude and ability to adapt to change

Safety sensitive positions include Civil Service positions within Police and Fire Departments and positions where their job responsibilities have direct and substantial responsibility that would impact the health and safety of others.
