U.S. Coast Guard in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Financial Specialist (GS-0501-9) to provide expert advice on budget and resource management. This vacancy is for a GS-0501-9, Financial Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-C5ISC FISCAL EXECUTION SECTION-NORFOLK VA in NORFOLK, Virginia.
You will serve as a Financial Specialist and be responsible for providing professional advice and assistance to the organization on all budget and resource management matters. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Reviewing financial reports to identify significant variances and account discrepancies.
Initiating corrective accounting actions to ensure prompt resolution of outstanding financial issues. Gathering customer feedback on service performance to support continual organizational improvement. Recommending operational improvements to upgrade financial tools, applications, and reporting processes. Monitoring budget execution in automated financial systems to track fund obligations and balances.
Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. A. PAL (Principles of Appropriations Law) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
