The Financial Reporting Manager will lead the preparation, analysis, and delivery of financial reporting across the organization. This role plays a key part in budgeting, forecasting, partner reporting, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data. Working closely with leadership and other administrative departments, this individual will serve as a financial advisor and resource for the firm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and internal reports.
- Serve as the primary contact for financial reporting inquiries from attorneys and administrative leaders.
- Lead the preparation of ad hoc financial analyses, dashboards, and profitability data to support strategic decision-making.
- Support implementation and oversight of financial reporting tools and systems in collaboration with the financial systems team.
- Take the lead in the annual budgeting process, including revenue, expense, and capital projections, in coordination with firm leadership.
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance, analyze variances, and update forecasts throughout the year.
- Prepare financial data and custom reports to support partner and associate evaluations, as well as lateral hiring decisions.
- Manage data collection and responses for industry benchmarking surveys.
- Contribute to the year-end audit process and preparation of audited financial statements.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to financial reporting policies and procedures.
- Provide financial projections, modeling, and scenario analysis to support the firm’s strategic planning initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressive financial reporting experience in a law firm.
- In-depth understanding of financial principles and GAAP compliance.
- Familiarity with law firm financial systems such as Elite 3E, Aderant or similar program
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong analytical thinking and financial modeling capabilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to communicate complex financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.
- Able to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Discretion, professionalism, and a commitment to confidentiality.
