JOB SUMMARY

The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for managing the financial reporting functions of the firm. This position involves preparing, analyzing, and presenting financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. The Financial Reporting Manager will collaborate with various departments to gather financial data, lead the annual budgeting process, and contribute to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Oversees the financial reporting function of the Firm, including review and approval of standard monthly financial statements and reporting.
  • Lead role in preparation of high-level ad hoc reporting. Serve as the primary point of contact for financial reporting inquiries from Partners, Associates, and other administrative departments. Communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy of standard and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and profitability system data.Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial reporting systems in conjunction with Financial Systems team.
  • Lead role in the annual budget preparation, including preparation of revenue, expense and capital budgets. Works closely with Director of Finance in overall preparation and interacts significantly with other Firm Chiefs/Directors in completion of the expense budgets. Responsible for monitoring variances and forecasts throughout the year.
  • Responsible for preparation and distribution of standard and ad hoc financial data and reports for Partner and Associate Evaluations and lateral Partner review reporting.
  • Responsible for preparation of annual/quarterly surveys.
  • Involved in the Firm’s audit process, including preparation of financial statements. Ensures the adequacy of external audit process and also internal controls.
  • Recommends and implements approved changes to the firm’s financial reporting systems, policies, processes and procedures. Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the Director of Finance and senior management in strategic planning activities by providing financial projections, scenario analyses, and other relevant data.

SPECIAL REQUESTS

  • Assist with other duties as assigned and special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance and CFO.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and experience with financial modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Adherence to the Firm's in-office presence policy is expected. This policy currently expects attendance in the designated office for three days per week.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial reporting or a related role, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in financial software and databases, Elite 3E or other law firm accounting software preferred.

The annualized good faith base salary range for this position in the following location(s):

  • Washington, DC: is a minimum of $138,397 to a maximum of $207,595 per year.

The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, applicable certifications, and other relevant professional licenses held, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm.
