Job summary

Sun Communities, Inc. in MI-Southfield is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst to support the Director of Financial Reporting in internal and external management reporting, consolidation, and SEC filings. This role requires strong attention to detail and solid accounting knowledge.

The position involves researching accounting standards, reconciling ledgers, and preparing monthly reports, with opportunities for growth and collaboration across the finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• 2 years experience with general ledger and financial statements.
• 6 months experience preparing 10-Ks and 10-Qs preferred.
• 6 months experience with Workiva preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, prioritization and multitasking.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• CPA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handles accounting journal entries and financial analytics for various areas (Essential).
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts, prepares supporting work papers for the external audit, and follows up on outstanding issues (Essential).
• Prepares various monthly internal reports (Essential).
• Performs consolidation tasks for subsidiary financial statements (Essential).
• Assists in preparing and timely submission of SEC filings (8-Ks, 10-Ks and proxy) and disclosures.
• Researches accounting regulations and SEC disclosure requirements; provides US GAAP guidance to internal teams.
• Assists in administration of stock compensation programs.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.
