Sun Communities is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst to support the Director, Financial Reporting in preparing internal and external management reports and consolidated financial statements. You will assist with SEC filings and technical accounting research, ensuring alignment with US GAAP and accurate general ledger reconciliation.

This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally to meet reporting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 2 years in general ledger, financial statements, and analytics.
• 6 months in preparing 10-Ks and 10-Qs preferred.
• 6 months in Workiva preferred.
• CPA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handles journal entries and financial analytics for various specialized areas.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts and prepares audit support papers.
• Prepares monthly internal reports.
• Contributes to consolidation of subsidiary financial statements.
• Assists with SEC filings (8-Ks, 10-Ks, proxy) and supplemental reporting.
• Researches accounting regulations and provides US GAAP guidance.
• Assists in administering stock compensation programs.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job description

Financial Reporting Analysts specialize in areas that provide support to the Director, Financial Reporting in the preparation of internal and external management reports. They assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, external SEC filings (10-Ks and 10-Qs), and supplemental data information. Financial Reporting Analysts also research technical accounting issues by reviewing documentation issued by the FASB, SEC, PCAOB, AICPA, or other authoritative body and analyze, review and reconcile financial information to the general ledger in a timely and accurate manner.

Job Duties

• Handles accounting journal entries and financial analytics for various specialized areas (Essential)
• Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts, prepares supporting work papers for the external audit, and follows-up on outstanding issues (Essential)
• Prepares various monthly internal reports (Essential)
• Performs various tasks related to the consolidation of subsidiary financial statements (Essential)
• Assists in the preparation and timely submission of required SEC filings (8-Ks, 10-Ks and proxy) and supplemental reporting/press releases
• Assists in researching accounting regulations and SEC disclosure requirements; provides technical accounting consultation to internal team members regarding US GAAP and practical implementation thereof
• Assists in the administration of stock compensation programs
• Other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (Required)
• 2 years in experience with general ledger, financial statements, and analytical responsibilities (Required)
• 6 months in prior experience preparing 10-Ks and 10-Qs (Preferred)
• 6 months in experience with Workiva (Preferred)
• Strong attention to detail, prioritization and multitasking skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply accounting principles
• Preferred Certifications/Licensures:(Certified Public Accountant (CPA))
