Job summary

Sun Communities seeks a Financial Reporting Analyst to support the Director of Financial Reporting in preparing internal and external management reports, consolidations, and SEC filings. You will assist in reconciling the general ledger and preparing supporting documents for external audits.

The role involves reviewing US GAAP guidance, ensuring timely submissions of 8-Ks, 10-Ks, and proxy materials, and contributing to accuracy across financial disclosures and reporting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 2+ years experience with general ledger, financial statements, and analytics.
• 6 months experience preparing 10-Ks and 10-Qs preferred.
• 6 months real estate experience preferred.
• 6 months experience with Workiva preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handles accounting journal entries and financial analytics for various specialized areas (Essential)
• Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts, prepares supporting work papers for the external audit, and follows-up on outstanding issues (Essential)

• Performs various tasks related to the consolidation of subsidiary financial statements (Essential)

Overview

Financial Reporting Analysts specialize in areas that provide support to the Director, Financial Reporting in the preparation of internal and external management reports. They assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, external SEC filings (10-Ks and 10-Qs), and supplemental data information. Financial Reporting Analysts also research technical accounting issues by reviewing documentation issued by the FASB, SEC, PCAOB, AICPA, or other authoritative body and analyze, review and reconcile financial information to the general ledger in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

• 6 months in prior experience preparing 10-Ks and 10-Qs (Preferred)


• 6 months in real estate experience (Preferred)


• 6 months in experience with Workiva (Preferred)


• Strong attention to detail, prioritization and multitasking skills


• Excellent organizational and communication skills


• Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply accounting principles


• Preferred Certifications/Licensures:(Certified Public Accountant (CPA))
