Job summary

Sun Communities, Inc. is seeking a Corporate Accountant to prepare, review, and reconcile financial information for multiple entities.

The role involves adjusting entries to the general ledger, supporting consolidated financial statements, and providing detailed analyses for management and auditors. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and at least 3 years of accounting experience, with preference for multi-entity exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field is required.
• 3 years of accounting experience is required.
• 6 months in multi-entity organizational structure preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced bookkeeping principles and practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; able to use email and internet.

Responsibilities

• Review financial statements and verify transcription accuracy; prepare adjusting journal entries for each business unit.
• Assist management with monthly results analysis and variances (actual vs. budget).
• Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare adjusting entries and schedules.
• Prepare work papers for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
• Perform complex, multi-entity accounting tasks requiring research and reconciliation.
• Assist with maintaining the corporate general ledger and consolidated financial statements.
• Prepare supporting documents for internal/external auditors.
• Assist with annual operating budget preparation.

Corporate Accountants prepare, review, and reconcile financial information for various entities. They complete adjusting journal entries to the general ledger to ensure the financial statements accurately reflect operations for each business unit. Also, they assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements, maintenance of the corporate general ledger, and preparation and/or analysis of special reports.

Job Duties

• Reviews financial statements to verify accuracy of transcriptions; prepares adjusting journal entries for each business unit to ensure financial statements accurately reflect operations (Essential)
• Assists management with addressing issues and/or questions related to the monthly financial operating results and provides analysis of actual vs. budget variances (Essential)
• Analyzes and reconciles the activities in balance sheet accounts such as cash, prepaid expenses, accrued receivables/payables and other assets/liabilities; prepares adjusting journal entries and schedules as needed (Essential)
• Prepares work papers for quarterly reviews and annual audits as assigned (Essential)
