Haptiq is seeking a senior financial process engineer to lead a finance transformation for Apex Hospitality. You will bridge finance operations and technology, map and optimize ERP-driven workflows, and identify automation opportunities across restaurants, casinos, eCommerce, and DRF.

The role requires strong collaboration with finance leaders, controllers, and Haptiq engineers, with a two-week on-site discovery in Las Vegas and continued remote support as needed.

Job description

We are seeking a senior financial process engineer to support a finance transformation initiative at Apex Hospitality, a portfolio company that operates restaurants, casinos, an e-commerce business, and the Daily Racing Form.

Apex currently operates with multiple ERPs, fragmented financial processes, and different operating models across its business units. The goal of this initiative is to assess the current finance and accounting processes, identify opportunities to streamline operations, improve visibility, reduce manual work, increase efficiency, and design a future state operating model that can leverage automation, AI, and modern technology capabilities.

Haptiq has AI engineers and automation engineers who can build and implement technical solutions. The missing role is a finance and accounting process expert who can bridge business requirements, financial operations, and technology execution.

This person will work closely with the Controller, VP of Finance, CFO, finance team members, Apex business stakeholders, and the Haptiq technical team. The contractor will also work closely with Mike Sirotin, the Fractional CIO of Apex, and the executive technology lead from the Haptiq side. Mike knows the Apex organization well and will lead the engagement from the Haptiq side.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess current financial processes across Apex business units, including restaurants, casinos, eCommerce, and Daily Racing Form.
• Map current workflows across accounting, close process, reporting, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, approvals, and ERP-related processes.
• Identify pain points, inefficiencies, control gaps, manual work, duplicate processes, data issues, and opportunities for standardization.
• Work with finance leadership and business users to understand requirements, operating constraints, and desired business outcomes.
• Design future-state financial processes that improve speed, accuracy, visibility, controls, and scalability.
• Translate finance and accounting requirements into clear functional specifications for Haptiq AI and automation engineers.
• Recommend automation, workflow, reporting, AI, and data opportunities that can reduce manual work and improve decision-making.
• Develop a practical implementation roadmap, including priorities, sequencing, estimated effort, dependencies, risks, and expected impact.
• Support the implementation team by validating requirements, reviewing solution designs, testing outputs, and ensuring business adoption.
• Act as the bridge between Apex finance stakeholders and Haptiq technical teams throughout the engagement.

Expected Engagement Structure

• The initial phase will include approximately two weeks on-site in Las Vegas to complete discovery, stakeholder interviews, process assessment, and future state design.
• Following the assessment, the contractor will help develop a roadmap and continue supporting implementation remotely and as needed.
• The role will require close collaboration with Apex finance leadership, business operators, Mike Sirotin, and the Haptiq technical delivery team.

Ideal Background

• Strong finance and accounting operations experience, ideally in complex, multi-entity or multi-business environments.
• Experience working with Controllers, VP Finance, CFOs, accounting teams, and business operators.
• Hands-on experience with financial process improvement, ERP workflows, finance transformation, shared services, or accounting automation.
• Ability to understand current state processes and translate them into practical, scalable future state workflows.
• Experience with ERP environments, financial reporting, data flows, integrations, approvals, and process controls.
• Strong understanding of core finance processes, including month-end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
• Experience in hospitality, restaurants, gaming, eCommerce, media, or multi-location operating businesses is a plus.
• Comfortable working with technical teams and translating business needs into clear requirements.
• Strong communication, documentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate independently, structure ambiguous problems, and drive toward practical outcomes.
