Job description

The Financial Planning Specialist is responsible for managing client financial data within the eMoney platform, analyzing complex financial information, and building and evaluating planning scenarios. This role requires strong analytical judgment demonstrated by reviewing source documents carefully, identifying gaps or inconsistencies, and determining when a plan is complete and ready for advisor review, with the initiative to work through issues as they arise. The role also requires sound judgment – the ability to assess situations, weigh options, and make well-reasoned decisions without needing every step directed, while knowing when a matter should be escalated rather than decided alone.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and enter financial data from a wide range of source documents including custodial statements, trust documents, insurance policies, mortgages and expense summaries, with a critical eye for quality and completeness, flagging gaps or inconsistencies and determining what needs to be resolved before a plan can move forward.
  • Analyze data using eMoney reports to assess the completeness and accuracy of a client’s financial picture, determine when a plan is ready for advisor review, and communicate directly with advisors about any outstanding gaps or next steps.
  • Build, test, and refine financial planning scenarios in eMoney, evaluating whether the numbers, assumptions, and overall approach are sound and aligned with the client’s goals before presenting findings to advisors. Work directly with clients and prospects on the eMoney platform, presenting its functionality, gathering and verifying financial information, and addressing questions and concerns as they arise.
  • Provide training and education for internal eMoney users on how to use the system, navigate scenarios and provide best practices for use of the software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve client account and data connection issues within the software.
  • Contribute to the team’s ongoing education program which includes planning presentations and weekly software webinars.
  • Exercise judgment when evaluating ambiguous or incomplete client data, determining appropriate course of action rather than defaulting to a checklist, and documenting the reasoning behind key decisions.
  • Assess the relative priority and risk of completing issues across multiple client cases, and decide how and when to address them, escalating to advisors or management only when a matter falls outside the scope of the role and carries significant risks
EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 2+ years Financial Planning experience
  • Enrollment in the Certified Financial Planner™education program and actively working toward achieving the CFP designation within 6 months of hire is expected.
  • Experience with eMoney or other financial planning software.
COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to learn and understand complex financial planning techniques, areas of emphasis include financial goals, Social Security, education planning, insurance planning, executive compensation and stock option analysis, estate planning, and cash flow analysis.
  • Ability to review planning scenarios for accuracy, soundness and effectiveness, exercise judgment in identifying issues or discrepancies.
  • Must be flexible to our changing client and company needs.
  • Become knowledgeable in other MAI software programs as they pertain to eMoney.
  • Must be a team player, work effectively under pressure, have a professional image and be able to resolve problems and conflicts.
  • Must be able to elevate issues and ask questions when appropriate, take ownership of work product and be aware of how our work affects the organization.
  • Must be able to prioritize and organize multiple tasks in a complex and dynamic environment, relying on independent judgment to determine priority and next steps.
