The Financial Planning Assistant will play a key role in supporting financial advisors through financial plan preparation, client service, investment analysis, and operational support. Job Description
The Financial Planning Assistant supports the advisory team in delivering high-quality financial planning and wealth management services. This role combines client service, financial analysis, operational support, and planning coordination to help advisors provide an exceptional client experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist advisors with preparing financial plans, recommendations, and client meeting materials.
- Support client review meetings through data gathering, analysis, and follow-up activities.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide timely account servicing support.
- Maintain accurate client records within CRM and planning systems.
- Ensure adherence to firm policies, compliance requirements, and industry regulations.
- Assist with portfolio analysis and the development of financial planning recommendations.
- Support business operations and administrative functions as needed.
- Collaborate with advisors on marketing initiatives and client engagement activities.
- Coordinate and track action items to support efficient client service and workflow management.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree.
- 2+ years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, paraplanning, or a related financial services role.
- Strong understanding of financial planning principles, investment products, and wealth management strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to handle confidential client information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency with financial planning software, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required securities and insurance licenses, including:
- Securities Industry Essentials (SIE)
- Series 7
- Series 66
- Applicable state Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Producer licenses
- Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and regulatory compliance.
Preferred
- Active SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 licenses.
- Active state Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Producer license(s).
- Experience supporting financial advisors in an independent advisory, wealth management, or financial planning environment.
- Familiarity with financial planning and portfolio management software.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to business development, client engagement, or marketing initiatives.
- Proven success working in a fast-paced, client-focused professional services environment.
