Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Finance or Accounting; typically 8 years of relevant financial experience.
  • Bend of strong analytical capabilities and data-driven decision making.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; familiarity with BI tools and Hyperion.

Responsibilities

  • Drives the financial performance management process including budget vs. actuals and quarterly forecasts.
  • Leads US Pain BU financial planning (budget, forecast, long-range plan) and develops key scenarios.
  • Provides insights to optimize investment decisions and communicates outcomes to leadership.

Job Description
General Summary:

The Senior Manager is a key member of Vertex's Financial Planning & Analysis team, providing financial direction and strategic insight to the US Pain Business Unit including identification of key value drivers and Business KPIs, helping the business unit deliver short term and long term goals, and influencing strategy.This role will help drive our annual budget process and will partner closely with functional teams to drive the financial performance management process (objective setting, budget vs. actuals, etc.). The role will also place a critical role in updating quarterly forecasts, with a focus on influencing business operations and decisions through an understanding of the key drivers of short-term performance and communicating the range of possible outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drives the financial performance management process for responsible functions (objective setting, budget vs. actuals, etc.), including the quarterly forecast process, with a focus on influencing business operations and decisions through an understanding of the key drivers of short term performance and communicating the range of possible outcomes.
  • Drives the US Pain BU financial planning process (budget, forecast, long range plan) to provide insightful and influential forward looking direction, to develop key scenarios, and to identify key risks/uncertainties and plans for potential mitigation.
  • Provides insights and analysis to optimize investment decisions
  • Works closely with other members of the CFO organization to maintain a continuous improvement mindset and promote strong communication, sharing of best practices and efficient processes.
  • Identifies and help drive opportunities to improve process across the global finance organization.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong analytical skill and ability to work with large amounts of data with an ability to create ad hoc reports or analytics independently.
  • Expertise with Excel and strong PowerPoint skills; Experience with Hyperion or another multidimensional database; experience with business intelligence and visualization tools a plus.
  • Ability to solve problems and think creatively - capacity to provide pragmatic solutions and have the drive and leadership to implement ideas through to successful conclusion.
  • Strong business acumen, judgment and professionalism required. Intellectual curiosity drives a deep understanding of business issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues (within or outside of finance) in sharing insights and learnings.
  • Must be able to work well with senior leaders, peers and junior team members.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset with the flexibility to adapt to change and experience with lean tools / lean philosophies a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Typically requires 8 years of relevant financial experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range:

$134,400 - $201,600

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
