Job summary

Avnet, a Fortune 500 technology distributor and solutions company, is seeking a Financial Analyst who will report, analyze and interpret financial and operating data to support accounting and business operations management. You will build forecasts and financial models to guide planning.

You will partner with management to provide P&L projections, budgeting, cost analysis and month-end close support, and you will develop standard and ad-hoc reporting while monitoring KPIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting systems.
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides analytical support to management including P&L projections, budgeting, and cost analysis.
• Performs economic research on rates of return, depreciation, working capital and investments.
• Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans and forecasts.
• Prepares journal entries, accruals and assists with month-end close.
• Responds to information requests from internal customers and others.
• Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending and narrative results analysis.
• Develops and distributes standard and ad-hoc monthly reporting.
• Reviews and analyzes reports to verify results.
• Works with management to develop, monitor and report on KPIs.
• Assists with the development and presentation of short- and long-range financial plans.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Reports, analyzes and interprets financial and operating data for accounting and business operations management. Generates financial forecasts and creates financial models to support the organization's financial and business planning decisions.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Provides analytical support to management to include Profit and Loss (P&L) projections/forecasts, scenario planning, ratio analysis, budgeting, and cost analysis related to business models.

• Performs economic research and studies in the areas of rates of return, depreciations, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance and impact of governmental requirements.

• Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, trended future requirements and operating forecasts.

• Prepares journal entries, calculates accruals, allocates expenses, and closely interacts with the accounting team during the month-end close process.

• Responds to information requests from internal customers and others as assigned.

• Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending, and narrative results analysis for management.

• Develops and distributes standard and ad-hoc monthly reporting.

• Reviews and analyzes reports in order to verify results.

• Works with management to develop, monitor and report-out on key performance indicators for the business.

• Assists with the development, preparation, and presentation of short- and long-range financial plans.

• Other duties as assigned.

Job Level Specifications:

• Foundational knowledge of specialized disciplines, industry practices and standards, acquired via academic instruction and/or relevant work experience of substantially the same level.

• Develops solutions to defined tasks, typical assignments and projects. May be solved by the application of specialized foundational knowledge, using existing approaches and solutions.

• Work is usually performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. Receives initial direction although work may be reviewed for accuracy and quality.

• Collaborates with immediate management and team members within the department or function.

• Actions typically affect own work assignments and department. Erroneous decisions or failure to accomplish work may require some assistance or resources to remedy.

Work Experience:

• Typically less than 2 years with bachelor's or equivalent.

Education and Certification(s):

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

• Knowledge of GAAP and complex accounting systems
