Job summary

SMBC Group in New York is seeking an Associate for the Global Financial Institutions team. This full-time role delivers corporate lending and debt capital markets origination across banks, insurers, and specialty finance clients within a collaborative, cross-border environment.

You will work in a hybrid model, supporting deal structuring, financial modeling, and client presentations while advancing knowledge of insurance capital frameworks and regulatory considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in corporate finance, corporate banking, debt capital markets, investment banking, or a related field at a leading financial institution or rating agency.
• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and quantitative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience within the insurance sector is preferred, although candidates with broader financial institutions or corporate banking experience will also be considered.
• Demonstrated interest in insurance markets, capital structures, and strategic financing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across product groups, industry teams, and geographic regions.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and organization.
• Originate, approve, and execute corporate lending transactions, including deal structuring and pricing.
