Financial Institution and Policy Analysts work under regular supervision to conduct in-depth analyses on quantitative and qualitative data. Perform assigned project tasks while developing domain expertise. Share information and ideas regarding projects and work primarily for their Project Team, Section, or Division. Prepare and deliver communications including presentations and recommendations to others in the Section/Division and/or to external stakeholders. Some travel may be required.
The Federal Reserve carries out its supervisory and regulatory responsibilities and supporting functions primarily by supervising the activities of financial institutions to promote their safety and soundness, developing regulatory policy rulemakings, supervision and regulation letters, policy statements, and guidance, and monitoring trends in the banking sector by collecting and analyzing data.
The SSO team serves as the strategic coordination hub for the division’s Supervision Group. We work closely with the supervisory portfolios, which are organized by the size and type of institution that they oversee, on supervisory matters, including information products, supervision policy and program development, and analysis that spans multiple portfolios. The team supports the conduct of supervisory activities across the Federal Reserve System by supporting or developing supervisory policy and regulation and program expectations, including supporting technology tools. The team also coordinates on supervisory matters across portfolios and creates cross-portfolio information products. Our team engages with many sections and levels of staff and senior leaders within the Board Supervision and Regulation Division and Federal Reserve Banks. We also serve as primary liaison between the Board’s Supervision and Policy Groups, coordinating supervisory input to inform policy development and leading policy implementation across portfolios. The SSO team works closely with colleagues in the division’s Business Enablement Group in gathering, analyzing, and reporting on supervision metrics. Additionally, the team engages with other individuals in the division’s Financial Research, Risk, and Applications Group on risk analysis, dissemination, and actions needed.
This role offers unique exposure for an early-career position, where the analyst will contribute to materials that reach the most senior leadership at the Board, develop a view across the entire supervisory landscape, and support the implementation of Board leadership’s priorities across the portfolios.
