The Financial Grant Manager, Office of the VP of Finance at Georgetown University Medical Center, supports faculty in the financial and compliance management of externally funded awards, serving as an active liaison between faculty and other university offices. The role provides financial oversight, forecasting, and post-award support for ARPA-H awards, including contracts executed through Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs). Responsibilities include maintaining auditable records for expenditures, cost transfers, procurements, and approved budget modifications. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, communicates effectively, and independently manages competing priorities and deadlines. Because these programs are milestone-driven and subject to evolving sponsor requirements, the successful candidate must learn new systems and funding mechanisms quickly, work with agility, and adapt as program scope, milestones, and reporting expectations change.
The Financial Grant Manager reports directly to the Office of the VP of Finance and currently has no direct reports. This position works closely with other staff members across other administrative roles within the University, to ensure that awards are accurate and in compliance with sponsor and institutional regulations. Furthermore, the Financial Grant Manager maintains a close, day-to-day operational partnership with the Lead Project Manager(s) partners with Program Managers and PIs to integrate cost, schedule, and performance information into program reporting. By facilitating seamless financial administration and ensuring stringent compliance, the work performed by this position directly empowers Georgetown University's overarching mission to advance health, science, and the common good through world-class research.
Bachelor’s degree Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in a grants management role. Knowledge of a variety of sponsored research funding mechanisms, including federal agencies (NIH, ARPA-H, NSF, DOD, etc.). Expertise with federal funding guidelines (e.g., 2 CFR 200, FAR). Proficiency with financial systems, accounting, and cost accounting standards as they pertain to grants and contracts management. Budgeting experience and a high level of proficiency in Excel. Proficient with software products including Adobe Professional and DocuSign. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving research environment. Demonstrated learning agility: able to master unfamiliar funding mechanisms, sponsor requirements, and financial systems quickly and with minimal supervision. Capacity to establish clear priorities, adapt to changing circumstances, and multi-task quickly and effectively under pressure and against short deadlines Collegial and collaborative working style, with the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships across faculty, internal university offices, internal and external academic/industrial consortium partners, including acting as a close operational partner to Lead Project Managers and PIs in a fast-paced, milestone-driven environment.
Experience managing complex federal post-award finances, preferably ARPA-H, DARPA, BARDA, or similarly milestone-driven awards. Demonstrated experience with milestone-based payments, multi-year forecasting, consortium or multi-site financial coordination, and sub-performer oversight. Familiarity with Workday. Advanced Excel and financial systems skills, with the ability to build clear budget, burn-rate, variance, and forecast dashboards. Track record of adapting financial processes and reporting tools to accommodate mid-stream changes in program scope, consortium composition, or sponsor reporting requirements.

Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $54,616.00 - $100,493.33 Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
