Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations and ensure accurate, timely processing of financial transactions.
  • Manage payroll processes, including payroll preparation, review, reporting, and coordination with staff and vendors.
  • Direct accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment tracking, reconciliation, and follow-up on balances.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain organizational and departmental budgets in collaboration with leadership and program administrators.
  • Prepare regular financial reports, forecasts, and analyses for leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate preparation of materials for annual audits and related financial documentation.
  • Prepare and submit rate-setting materials and related financial documentation as required.
  • Monitor cash flow, revenue, expenditures, and financial performance to support decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit requirements.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with program, administrative, and HR staff on financial questions and operations.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of expertise.

Position Summary

Regional Services & Education Center, Inc. is seeking a full-time detail-oriented and experienced Financial Director to oversee the organization’s financial operations. The

Financial Director will provide thoughtful leadership in financial planning, reporting, compliance, and administration while ensuring that financial processes are accurate, timely, and aligned with the organization’s mission.

This position will manage and coordinate key financial functions, including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, budget development, audit preparation, rate-setting submissions, and other financial activities. The successful candidate will be organized, analytical, collaborative, and committed to supporting a nonprofit educational organization.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the organization’s day-to-day financial operations and ensure accurate, timely

processing of financial transactions.

Manage payroll processes, including payroll preparation, review, reporting, and

coordination with relevant staff and vendors.

Direct accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment tracking, account

reconciliation, and follow-up on outstanding balances.

Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, procedures, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Support grant reporting, funding documentation, and other financial submissions as needed.

Perform other financial and administrative responsibilities consistent with the needs of the organization.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.

Relevant professional experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a

nonprofit, education, health and human services, or child care organization.

Demonstrated experience managing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable,

budgeting, and financial reporting.

Experience coordinating annual audits and preparing supporting schedules and

documentation.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and financial

recordkeeping.

Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.

Proficiency with accounting software, payroll systems, Microsoft Excel, and other

standard office technology.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, staff, auditors, vendors, and external

Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or other relevant

professional credential.

Experience working for a nonprofit organization with multiple programs or funding

sources.

Experience with rate-setting submissions, government or agency reporting, grant

accounting, or reimbursement-based funding.

Knowledge of financial operations within special education, child care, human services, or

other regulated educational settings.

Experience developing and monitoring complex organizational budgets.

Familiarity with nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and applicable compliance

requirements.

Supervisory or team leadership experience.

Experience implementing or improving financial systems, procedures, and internal

controls.
