Job summary

JSG is seeking a highly analytical Senior Financial Data Analyst with advanced Excel and data modeling skills to support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and operating expense model analysis. This hands-on role focuses on complex Excel models, large datasets, and turning financial data into actionable insights.

The ideal candidate will have 5–7+ years in financial analysis, strong Excel, and experience building financial models.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of experience in financial analysis, data analysis, financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, or related analytical role.
• Advanced Excel skills are essential, including complex formulas, large datasets, models, lookups, and pivot tables.
• Strong experience building and maintaining detailed financial and data models.
• Ability to analyze large data volumes and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Strong understanding of P&L, budgets, forecasts, operating expenses, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and enhance complex Excel-based financial and data models.
• Manipulate, organize, reconcile, and analyze large financial and operational datasets.
• Support annual budgeting, business planning, and forecasting processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and rolling forecasts.
• Perform variance analysis (Actual vs. Forecast vs. Budget/Plan).
• Analyze operating expenses, including IT, project, and vendor-related spending.
• Identify trends, drivers, anomalies, and opportunities within financial data.
• Analyze impact of business activity on P&L and overall financial performance.
• Support month-end reporting and management reports.
• Perform financial analysis for new projects, programs, and initiatives.
• Identify potential cost savings and profitability improvements.
• Extract, manipulate, and analyze information from enterprise systems and databases.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT, Operations, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Job description

JSG is seeking a highly analytical Senior Financial Data Analyst with advanced Excel and data modeling skills to support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and operating expense model analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working hands‑on with complex Excel models, large datasets, financial and operational data, and detailed analysis.

The ideal candidate will have a strong financial analysis background but does not need to come from a traditional FP&A Manager role. We are looking for someone who can dig into the data, build and maintain sophisticated models, identify trends and variances, and turn complex information into meaningful business insights.

Hybrid: Monday–Thursday onsite / Friday remote

Key Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and enhance complex Excel-based financial and data models
• Manipulate, organize, reconcile, and analyze large financial and operational datasets
• Support annual budgeting, business planning, and forecasting processes
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and rolling forecasts
• Perform detailed Actual vs. Forecast vs. Budget/Plan variance analysis
• Analyze operating expenses, including IT, project, and vendor-related spending
• Identify trends, business drivers, anomalies, and opportunities within financial data
• Analyze the impact of business activity on the P&L and overall financial performance
• Support month-end reporting and preparation of financial and management reports
• Perform financial analysis for new projects, programs, and business initiatives
• Identify potential cost savings, profitability improvements, and other measurable opportunities
• Extract, manipulate, and analyze information from enterprise systems and databases
• Partner with Finance, IT, Operations, vendors, and other cross-functional teams to gather data and support business decisions

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of experience in financial analysis, data analysis, financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, or a related analytical role
• Advanced Excel skills are essential, including experience working with complex formulas, large datasets, financial models, lookups, pivot tables, and advanced data manipulation
• Strong experience building and maintaining detailed financial and data models
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large volumes of data and translate findings into actionable business insights
• Strong understanding of P&L, budgets, forecasts, operating expenses, and financial reporting
• Experience analyzing IT expenses, projects, systems, and/or vendor spend is highly desirable
• Experience with financial planning, reporting, ERP, or enterprise data systems
• Strong data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and analytical skills
• SQL/PL/SQL experience preferred
• SAS programming experience is a plus
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline
• MBA is a plus
