Job summary

TMC Bonham Hospital is a 25-bed critical access facility offering inpatient and outpatient services, with 24-hour emergency care. The Financial Counselor will manage billing, collections, and follow-up, helping patients navigate billing and payment options while communicating with third-party payers as needed.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of healthcare billing experience, solid numeric skills, and strong customer-service abilities to support patients through the billing process

• Knowledge: Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial insurance familiarity.

TMC Bonham Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital that includes both primary care and specialty physicians. The Critical Access Hospital, offering both inpatient and outpatient services along with 24-hour emergency services. The Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Program was established to assure access to healthcare services for rural residents. The program provides rural acute care hospitals with a range of opportunities for service enhancement and quality of care improvement. Quality healthcare and patient safety is our goal. Position Summary

This position is responsible for all account billing, collections and follow-up including communication with all parties who may have a bearing on account resolution. The financial counselor will assist patients and/or family members regarding billing and payment issues.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training
Education Requirements: High School or equivalent
Experience: One year of billing, collection, or related business office experience in a healthcare environment
License / Certification: None
Knowledge / Skills: Basic PC experience, 10-key calculator, keyboarding, and use of other office machines such as copier, fax, etc. Knowledge of third-party payers - Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial insurance.
Outstanding people skills, including telephone technique, personal appearance, organization skills, communicable skills (oral and written), independent and self-motivate, flexible, analytic and arithmetic skills, negotiation skills, problem solving skills
