Job summary

Aspen Grove Behavioral Hospital in Utah seeks a dedicated Financial Counselor to support patients with billing, payment plans, and insurance verification. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some weekends if needed, and offers PTO/ELB, benefits, a 401(k) plan, and employee meal perks.

You will monitor past-due accounts, contact payers, and provide demographic/insurance verification and counseling to arrange patient responsibility payments.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Financial Counselor or in finance for 1-2 years preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and reviews past due accounts and follow up documents to determine delinquency problems.
• Investigate delinquency cases and identify special circumstances affecting payment delays.
• Contact third party payer organizations and/or patients to facilitate timely payment or arrange settlements.
• Provide financial counseling to verify demographic/insurance information and arrange payment plans.
• Identify delinquent accounts and recommend disposition (collections, other action, or write-off).
• Prepare and maintain records and reports documenting status of past due accounts.

Your goals and objectives include:

• Monitors and reviews past due accounts and follows up documents to determine the nature and extent of delinquency problems and any actions taken by patient’s or third party payers Displays a hard work ethic and completes daily cooking and cleaning tasks

• Investigates delinquency cases to identify any special circumstances affecting payment delays and follow up with appropriate parties

• Contact third party payer organizations and/or patients as necessary to facilitate the timely payment of past due charges or arranges alternative settlement plans

• Complete financial counseling with patients to verify demographic/insurance information and to collect and/or arrange payment plans for patient responsibility

• Identifies problem delinquencies and recommends their appropriate disposition (i.e., referral to collections agency, other legal action, or write-off)

• Prepares and maintains records and reports documenting the status and amount of past due accounts in the timing and nature of their disposition
