Job summary

Decatur County Hospital is seeking a Financial Services Associate to help patients understand and manage healthcare costs, and to set up payment plans and financial assistance where eligible.

The role includes managing delinquent accounts, coordinating collections activities, and collaborating across hospital departments to ensure accurate account resolution and an excellent patient experience on-site near Healthy Steps Childcare.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma; associates degree preferred.
• Experience in hospital admissions, billing or financial services is preferred.
• Excellent communication and data entry skills are required.
• Basic knowledge of medical insurance, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines desirable.

Responsibilities

• Help patients understand and manage healthcare costs, discuss out-of-pocket expenses and set up payment plans.
• Assist with financial assistance programs and monitor delinquent accounts.
• Coordinate collections activities and work with hospital departments to resolve accounts.

coordinates collections activities, and collaborates with hospital departments to ensure accurate account resolution and an excellent patient experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Preferred: 1-3 years experience in hospital admissions, billing or financial services.
• High School Diploma or GED required, Associates Degree preferred
• Excellent Communication and Data Entry Skills
• Previous collection experience in a hospital setting desirable.
• Basic knowledge of medical insurance, insurance forms, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines desirable.
• Ability to work independently, maintain strong attention to detail and effectively prioritize responsibilities.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management
