Job Type: Full-Time

Typical Hours: M-F, 8 AM - 5 PM; 40-45 hours

Our client, an environmental services provider, is searching for an analytical and growth-minded Controller to join their team (40 company-wide; 20m revenue) in Chico, CA. Their services help sustain operations for clients spanning across energy, agriculture, and industrial sectors. In this critical role, you will oversee daily accounting activities while also guiding business processes and strategic growth initiatives through financial reporting and budget management. They are looking to centralize accounting after working with a firm and are searching for a seasoned accounting professional to help as they focus on more operational oversight and leverage their ERP to create better reporting and analysis. As they continue to grow, this role could lead to overseeing direct reports but in the immediate future, this role will be very hands-on with about 60% of your time spent on routine accounting tasks. • Ensure daily accounting operations while supporting overall strategic direction

• Process accounts payable and receivable activities including collections

• Provide account statements and process bank deposits

• Lead internal audits and maintain compliance with all regulations

• Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation and closing procedures

• Collect, monitor, and analyze financial information, investigating variances

• Support the onboarding of customers and vendors

• Evaluate monthly sales tax reports and complete sales tax registrations

• Facilitate company level and departmental level budget development

• Complete budget variance analysis to help ensure company profitability

• Create and maintain reports of KPIs for the executive team

• Assess operations and identify areas for operational efficiency

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

• 5+ years of progressive, higher-level accounting experience required

• Hands-on financial statement preparation experience required

• Experience leveraging historical data and market trends to create financial forecasts required
