Job summary

NutraStar in New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls across accounting, inventory, and fixed assets.

The role also oversees year-end audits, tax support, and banking relationships, while driving cash flow optimization and process improvements to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or equivalent plus experience.
• 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manufacturing and cost accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, GAAP, and cash management principles.
• Experience in ERP systems (DEACOM a plus).
• Proficient in Excel and financial analysis.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely reconciliations.
• Coordinate year-end audits and support tax preparation.
• Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, and valuation reviews.
• Maintain strong internal controls and GAAP compliance; develop accounting policies.
• Support working capital and cash flow optimization; provide treasury support.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and assist cash flow forecasting.
• Manage capital expenditures, fixed assets, and depreciation.
• Monitor customer credit risk and collections; support banking relationships.
• Ensure ERP governance and integrity of financial master data.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls; provide ad hoc analysis.
