Job summary

Beard Roofing is hiring a Financial Controller in Westfield, IN for a full-time hybrid role. You will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, close processes and prepare accurate financial statements.

The position covers budgeting, forecasting, treasury management and financial reporting to support strategic decisions across divisions. You will reconcile accounts, review invoices, ensure regulatory compliance, coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors, and supervise payroll.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of demonstrated experience in accounting/finance with a strong foundation in financial statements.
• Proven ability to support budgeting, forecasts, and management reports.
• Advanced analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
• Experience with QuickBooks, ADP, and Google Workspace; JobNimbus familiarity is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA preferred.
• Experience as Financial Controller or senior finance role, preferably in construction/roofing.

Role Description:The Financial Controller is a full-time, hybrid role based in Westfield, IN, with some flexibility for work from home. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, including managing general ledger entries, month-end and year-end closing processes, and preparation of accurate financial statements. The Financial Controller will handle budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and financial reporting to support strategic decision-making. Daily responsibilities include reconciling accounts, reviewing invoices and expense reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors as needed, and overseeing the payroll function.

The role will also involve working closely with leadership to analyze financial performance, implement process improvements, and support growth across the commercial, residential, and multi-family divisions. The Controller will work directly with executive leadership in forecasting, job costing and profitability analysis, and supporting the team in the field.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of demonstrated and relevant experience with strong accounting foundation, including experience with accounting principles and preparation of financial statements.
• Demonstrated finance skills to support budgeting, forecasts, and management reports.
• Advanced Analytical Skills to interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable financial insights.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, ADP, and Google suite preferred, and familiarity with Jobnimbus a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
• Experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior accounting/finance role, preferably in construction, roofing, or related industries.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both field and office teams.
