Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations for the business based in Paarl, Western Cape. This leadership role drives financial planning, reporting, risk management, and compliance with IFRS and local tax legislation, guiding senior management to growth and profitability.

The successful candidate will lead the finance team, have 7–10 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years in a controller role, and hold CA(SA)/CIMA/ACCA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; professional qualification (CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA) is essential.
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a controller or similar role.
• Extensive knowledge of IFRS, South African tax laws, and financial reporting standards.
• Proven experience with financial software systems and advanced analytical skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking abilities.
• Experience in managing audits and working with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• Prepare and present timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (IFRS) and South African tax legislation.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
