The Role

At Last Mile Health (LMH), we are committed to our reputation and resources. We seek a proven Financial Controller with a track record of ensuring accurate, complete financial reports that adhere to relevant standards and regulations. The Financial Controller will oversee financial operations, ensure the integrity of financial reporting, manage audits, and support strategic financial planning. They will collaborate with non-finance staff to improve financial procedures and support program operations.

This position is remote and limited to candidates based on the U.S. Eastern Seaboard. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

What You'll Do

Global Financial Management and Reporting

1. Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring US GAAP compliance.
2. Ensure timely financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually.
3. Review and approve US-based financial transactions.
4. Maintain internal controls and statutory compliance.
5. Manage external audits.
6. Develop financial policies and procedures for the organization.
7. Manage cash flow forecasting.
8. Oversee financial systems and software.
9. Improve financial processes for efficiency and accuracy.

Finance and Accounting Team Leadership

1. Manage and mentor the finance team, clarifying roles and providing training.
2. Strengthen internal communication regarding financial policies.
3. Promote collaboration within the finance team and organization.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
• Knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and donor compliance.
• Experience coordinating external audits.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with financial software and ERP systems.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.

You’ll Impress Us If

• You hold a CPA or Master’s in Accounting.
• You have progressive experience in financial management, especially in NGOs or nonprofits.
• You excel at translating complex financial data for diverse audiences.

Compensation and About LMH
