McCarthy Services, doing business as McCarthy Home Services, seeks an experienced Controller in Springfield, VA to lead accounting and financial operations for our Northern Virginia service centers. The role partners with the GM and department leaders to drive performance, implement strong controls, and support growth.

You will oversee budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting, while guiding the accounting team to ensure timely closes and accurate analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive general accounting experience.
• GAAP knowledge and strong analytical skills.
• JD Edwards experience a plus; ERP knowledge helpful.
• Proficient in Excel and MS Office; ability to manipulate large data sets.
• Strong leadership and cross-department collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and financial-control activities for the service center.
• Partner with the General Manager and department leaders on financial planning and improvement initiatives.
• Oversee operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and inventory controls.
• Analyze financial results across service, sales, dispatch, fleet, HR, and purchasing.
• Provide financial reporting, variance analysis, and recommendations to leadership.
• Establish and maintain internal controls for inventory and purchasing processes.
• Coordinate monthly statements, rolling forecasts, and annual operating plans.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures and reconciliations.
• Oversee billing, credit, and collections; recruit and lead the local accounting team.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

McCarthy Home Services is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of our Northern Virginia service centers. Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• Lead all accounting and financial-control activities for the service center.
• Partner with the General Manager and department leaders on financial planning, performance, and improvement initiatives.
• Oversee operating and capital budgets, financial forecasts, and inventory controls.
• Analyze financial results across service, sales, dispatch, fleet, customer service, purchasing, safety, and HR.
• Provide financial reporting, variance analysis, labor-wage evaluations, and recommendations to leadership.
• Establish and maintain internal controls for inventory, purchasing, shipping and receiving, labor reporting, and operational processes.
• Conduct profitability and cost-reduction analyses across the business.
• Coordinate the development of monthly financial statements, rolling forecasts, annual operating plans, and capital plans.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Review and reconcile account balances.
• Oversee billing, credit, and collections.
• Prepare annual budgets and monitor performance against established plans.
• Recruit, develop, and lead the local accounting team.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of progressive general-accounting experience.
• Equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with ERP or computerized accounting systems; JD Edwards experience is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships across departments and leadership levels.
• Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced operating environment.
• Previous team leadership or accounting-management experience.
