Job summary

KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing seeks a Financial Controller to lead accounting and financial operations on-site in Rockingham County, VA. You will drive GAAP compliance, close processes, and partner with executive leadership to shape financial strategy.

Ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting leadership, strong Excel and ERP experience, and a track record of building teams and internal controls. This is a hands-on, on-site leadership role with visibility to senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel and accounting software experience.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, Payroll, and Fixed Assets.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare financial statements and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning.
• Lead audits and partner with external auditors and financial institutions.
• Oversee job costing, contract accounting, and project financial reporting.
• Facilitate monthly Cost-to-Complete meetings.
• Develop and mentor the accounting team.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes.
