Job description

We are partnering with an established and growing organization seeking a talented Financial Controller to take ownership of the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys being close to the business, improving processes, providing meaningful financial insight, and partnering directly with senior leadership.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a hands‑on, operational mindset. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the financials while helping leadership better understand performance, improve profitability, manage cash flow, and make informed business decisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Finance Controller, Finance Manager, Controller or CFO ready to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the company’s accounting and financial reporting activities.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts and working capital reporting.
  • Analyze financial and operational performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with executive and operational leadership to provide financial insight that supports business decisions.
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, margins, and profitability across the organization.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and other transactional accounting functions as applicable.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Coordinate annual audits and serve as a primary contact for external auditors, tax professionals, banks, and other financial partners.
  • Improve accounting processes, reporting capabilities, and financial systems.
  • Develop meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and management reporting.
  • Support strategic initiatives, capital investments, business growth, and other special projects.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or similar financial leadership position.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month‑end close.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management.
  • Ability to understand both the accounting details and the broader financial performance of the business.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Proven ability to improve processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executives and non‑financial leaders.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands‑on environment and taking ownership of the financial function.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or other advanced credential.
  • Experience within a privately held, PE‑backed, manufacturing, distribution, construction, industrial, or similarly operational business environment.
  • Experience implementing or improving ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting organizations through periods of growth, transformation, or process improvement.

What Makes This Opportunity Attractive

This is more than a traditional accounting position. The Financial Controller will have the opportunity to become a trusted financial partner to senior leadership and make a measurable impact on the business.

The position offers:

  • High visibility and direct interaction with senior leadership
  • Significant ownership of the accounting and finance function
  • Ability to improve processes and build a best‑in‑class financial infrastructure
  • Exposure to strategic planning and business decision‑making
  • Opportunity to influence profitability, cash flow, and operational performance
  • A stable organization with continued growth potential
  • Long‑term career advancement opportunities

The Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidate will be someone who can move comfortably between the details and the big picture.

You should be equally comfortable reviewing a balance sheet reconciliation, analyzing a variance, developing a cash flow forecast, improving a close process, and sitting down with senior leadership to explain what the financial results mean for the business.

  • If you are a hands‑on accounting and finance leader looking for an opportunity where you can own the financial function, influence the organization, and make a meaningful impact, we would like to speak with you.
