With current revenues exceeding $30M and an ambitious growth trajectory toward $100M+ in the next two years, the company operates across five states, delivering advanced HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing solutions for clients in a wide range of industries.As part of this expansion, our client is hiring a Financial Controller to serve as the first corporate-level finance leader. This is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing financial integration, consolidation, and reporting for a rapidly scaling platform.
Key Duties
- Prepare consolidated GAAP-compliant financial statements across multiple entities (monthly, quarterly, annually)
- Lead key financial analyses including variance, trend, and cost evaluations to inform strategic decision-making
- Manage weekly KPI reporting and share insights with operational and executive stakeholders
- Drive post-acquisition financial integration efforts, including ERP transitions and accounting consolidations
- Support the M&A lifecycle through due diligence, working capital reviews, asset valuation, tax planning, and opening balance sheet creation
- Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, with detailed variance analysis and strategic input
- Oversee short- and long-term cash flow planning and management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, ensuring thorough preparation and timely resolution of audit issues
- Maintain compliance with financial, tax, and legal regulations
- Oversee ERP system performance for financial reporting, invoicing, and auditing
- Champion process improvements that streamline finance operations and enhance reporting accuracy
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and provide actionable insights
- Supervise payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely processing
- Work closely with bookkeepers and finance teams across regional offices to unify and standardize accounting practices
- Provide training and guidance to promote consistent financial operations across all locations
- Maintain strong relationships with lenders and financial institutions
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting aligned with loan covenants and investor expectations
- This role reports directly to the client’s executive leadership team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years in a senior finance role, with direct leadership experience
- Demonstrated success in M&A environments and integrating multiple business units
- Deep understanding of GAAP and construction/project accounting (including percent-of-completion)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and ERP systems (Sage highly preferred)
- Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth companies is a strong asset
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical abilities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Entrepreneurial, systems-oriented mindset with a willingness to build from the ground up
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to meet regional teams
