Austin, TX (Hybrid) Direct Hire Opportunity through LHH (formerly Accounting Principals)
Position Overview
LHH is partnering with a growing global alternative investment and asset management organization to identify an experienced Financial Controller for its Austin-based finance team. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys operating in a sophisticated, multi-entity environment and driving process improvements within a rapidly evolving organization.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical accounting expertise, financial leadership, and business partnership skills, along with the ability to support strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and maintain a strong internal control environment.
- Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, and consolidations across multiple entities.
- Coordinate and manage external audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Develop, document, and improve accounting policies and procedures.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements.
- Partner with FP&A, operations, compliance, and executive leadership on financial matters.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff while fostering a high-performing team culture.
- Support strategic initiatives, special projects, and organizational growth efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Public accounting background preferred.
- Experience within asset management, financial services, alternative investments, private equity, private credit, or other complex multi-entity environments is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls.
- Experience managing audits and working with external auditors.
- Advanced ERP systems and financial reporting tools experience.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
