Job summary

SI Professional Search LLC in Apex, NC seeks an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing multi-location organization. Reporting to the CFO, this role owns month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and operational partnering across business units.

You will drive acquisition accounting, standardize policies, integrate acquired entities, and build a best-in-class team proficient with ServiceTitan and Sage Intacct.

The company is pursuing an aggressive growth strategy through a combination of organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. As the Company continues to grow its geographic footprint and service capabilities, the company is investing in the people, systems, processes, and financial infrastructure required to support a larger, multi-location organization.

Company is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function and build a best-in-class accounting organization capable of supporting the company's next stage of growth. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will have primary responsibility for accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, month-end close, acquisition accounting and integration, and development of the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting organization and establish a high-performance, accountable culture.
• Build, develop, mentor, and retain a best-in-class accounting team as the company continues to grow.
• Establish clear roles, responsibilities, processes, and performance expectations across the accounting function.
• Evaluate the existing accounting organization and determine the people and capabilities needed to support future growth.
• Serve as a strong business partner to the CFO and operational leadership.
• Maintain a hands‑on approach and willingness to work directly with the accounting team when necessary.
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
• Improve close timelines, account reconciliations, reporting accuracy, and financial controls.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Establish scalable accounting policies and procedures appropriate for a growing, multi‑location organization.
• Coordinate external audit, tax, and other accounting‑related activities.

M&A, Purchase Accounting & Integration

• Play a key financial leadership role in company’s acquisition strategy.
• Lead the accounting integration of acquired businesses into the company’s financial infrastructure.
• Manage purchase accounting associated with acquisitions.
• Coordinate opening balance sheets, purchase price allocations, and integration of acquired company financial information.
• Standardize accounting policies, reporting, processes, and controls across acquired businesses.
• Partner with the CFO and operational leadership to ensure acquisitions are integrated efficiently and effectively.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Serve as a key accounting leader and subject matter expert for ServiceTitan and Sage Intacct.
• Ensure effective integration and flow of financial and operational information between ServiceTitan and Sage Intacct.
• Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and reduce unnecessary manual work.
• Improve reporting capabilities and data integrity across the organization.
• Build processes and systems capable of supporting additional locations and acquisitions.

Controls, Compliance & Financial Discipline

• Develop and maintain appropriate internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting standards.
• Maintain strong balance sheet controls and account reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger activities.
• Support cash management, working capital, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed.
• Provide accurate and timely financial information to the CFO and executive leadership team.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 10+ years of Controller experience.
• Demonstrated success leading and developing accounting teams.
• Significant M&A accounting and post‑acquisition integration experience.
• Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with purchase accounting.
• ServiceTitan experience – required.
• Sage Intacct experience – required.
• Strong GAAP and technical accounting knowledge.
• Experience improving financial close, reporting, internal controls, and accounting processes.
• Experience working within a rapidly growing, multi‑location or acquisition‑driven organization.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• CPA preferred.

Leadership Profile

The successful candidate will be a builder, leader, and change agent who can assess the current accounting organization and create the people, processes, systems, and controls necessary to support significant growth.

The Controller must be comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where priorities move quickly and acquisitions create additional complexity. This individual should be equally comfortable working with the CFO on higher‑level financial issues and getting into the details with the accounting team when necessary.

Most importantly, the Controller will be responsible for building and leading a best‑in‑class accounting team capable of supporting the Company through its next stage of organic and acquisition‑driven growth.
