Job summary

Principal Financial Group is seeking a Financial Consultant I to join our Retirement and Income Solutions team. In this role, you will provide expert investment guidance via our call center to a diverse client base including direct-to-consumer prospects and employer-sponsored retirement plan participants.

You’ll combine financial expertise with excellent service, helping clients navigate investments and build financial security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 2+ years’ experience in financial services.
• Ability to obtain approval as a registered representative in all 50 states and DC.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to establish trust with customers over the phone.
• Detailed knowledge of retail investment products and employer-sponsored retirement plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide benefit event education to former participants and account holders.
• Facilitate transactions and coordinate introductions to specialized teams.
• Conduct consultative conversations assessing objectives, risk, and time horizons.
• Explain complex financial concepts in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
• Use active listening and communication to identify opportunities and build relationships.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliant handling of customer data and transactions.
• Adhere to compliance and regulatory training and licensing requirements.
• Manage client pipelines and follow up with applicants.
