Job summary

Kinsley Power Systems in Independence, MO is seeking a Financial Analyst II to support product costing, financial reporting, and strategic decision-making in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

You will lead monthly forecasting, build models, and ensure GAAP compliance while collaborating with production, finance, and operations teams. This role requires Excel expertise, ERP experience, and knowledge of FAR/DFARS/CAS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance; manufacturing/defense experience preferred.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge; familiarity with FAR/DFARS/CAS highly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP experience supporting GL & cost reporting; Deltek Costpoint and Cognos preferred.
  • Analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate across teams.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.

Title: Financial Analyst II

Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $106,800 - $138,800

Schedule: 980 Schedule

Focus: The Financial Analyst II supports accurate product costing, financial reporting, and business decisions in a high-volume ammunition manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with production, finance, and operations to analyze production cost, identify cost trends, and provides insight to help drive business decisions. This position plays a key role in financial close processes, inventory control, variance analysis, while partnering closely with local operations and leadership teams.

Financial Analyst II– Essential Job Functions:
  • Lead the monthly forecasting/budgeting process.
  • Build and maintain forecasting models and reporting and analytical tools.
  • Support the annual strategic planning process.
  • Performing timely and insightful financial analysis to identify necessary adjustments and reclassifications to ensure integrity of the financial statements.
  • Reviewing financial and operational data to generate insights to provide management actionable recommendations and advice.
  • Identify, research, and provide solutions for data consistency and accuracy issues.
  • Provide audit support for government and regulatory audits, responding to Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), local government staff, and agency data requests.
  • Develop a strong understanding of government contractor accounting rules and regulations, namely Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal. Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Assist in other standard and ad-hoc analyses and reporting requests.
Financial Analyst I Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree* in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance; Experience within a fast-paced manufacturing, defense, or ammunition manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP; working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems supporting general ledger and cost reporting; Deltek Costpoint and Cognos experience are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, and collaborate across finance, production, and operations teams.
  • Must have valid U.S. Driver's License.
Location-Specific Requirements:
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
