Job summary

County of DuPage is seeking a Financial Analyst I within the DuPage County Finance Department. The role involves gathering, analyzing, and presenting financial data, supporting budgets and forecasts, and preparing reports for management.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, and passing scores on Intermediate Excel and Basic Word tests, plus a pre-employment background check. A comprehensive benefits package is provided including health, pension, and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, compiles, organizes and documents relevant financial information.
• Analyzes, consolidates and interprets financial data.
• Assists with preparation of budgets, including trend analysis and forecasting.
• Assists in preparation of detailed reports and presentations for review by all levels of management.
• Monitors actual results of financial data against plans, forecasts and budgets.
• Consolidates operating and financial projections for short- and long-term plans.
• Reviews, evaluates and recommends revisions to departmental expenditures.
• Reviews resolutions and committee agendas for financial commitments.
• Reviews County-wide spending and advises on budget transfers and appropriations.
• Verifies and reviews daily deposit sheets for county departments.
• Prepares departmental invoices and various reports.
• Assists with Tort Liability reconciliation and insurance matters.
• Maintains the budget system.

Responsibilities include:

• Gathers, compiles, organizes and documents relevant financial information
• Analyzes, consolidates and interprets financial data
• Assists with the preparation of budgets, including trend analysis and forecasting
• Assists in the preparation of detailed reports and presentations for review by all levels of management
• Monitors actual results of financial data against plans, forecasts and budgets
• Consolidates a wide range of operating and financial projections for the development of both short-term and long-term business plans
• Reviews, evaluates and recommends revisions to departmental expenditures for conformance to budgeted amounts
• Reviews resolutions and committee agenda for financial commitments
• Reviews County-wide spending and advise Departments/Elected Officials on need for budget transfers; process County-wide budget transfers and appropriations
• Verifies, prepares and reviews daily deposit sheets for various functions within County departments
• Prepares departmental invoices
• Prepares various reports and studies as assigned
• Assists with Tort Liability reconciliation and other County insurance matters
• Assist with the maintenance of the budget system

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

A passing score on Intermediate Excel and Basic Word tests is required.A pre-employment background check is required.
