Job summary

Hawaii National Bank is seeking an Accounting professional to support daily operations of the Accounting Department. The role involves general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory reporting, tax compliance, and financial close processes.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent experience, plus 1–3 years in relevant functions. Proficiency in Excel is essential and SQL knowledge is a plus for team collaboration.

  • 1–3 years of accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, or related functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare financial and regulatory reports; support audits.
  • Assist with budgeting, financial close processes, and regulatory reporting.
  • Monitor budgets; support tax compliance and investment accounting.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Job description

This position supports the daily operations of the Accounting Department by assisting with general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory reporting, tax compliance, and financial close processes. Responsibilities include maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, preparing financial and regulatory reports, supporting audits, monitoring budgets, managing investment and fixed asset accounting, and recommending process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Requires a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent experience, along with one to three years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, or related functions. Candidates should possess strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel), and have the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of SQL is preferred, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is essential.
