The D. E. Shaw group is seeking a Financial Analyst for the FA&R team within Financial Operations in New York. You will develop and maintain financial models, produce reports, and analyze data to support strategic decisions at the executive level.

Requires at least two years in financial analysis or data analytics and a relevant bachelor's degree. A year-end bonus and comprehensive benefits are included.

OVERVIEW:

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a highly organized, resourceful, and proactive individual to join its

Financial Analysis & Reporting (FA&R) team within Financial Operations. FA&R delivers

forward-looking financial analysis, actionable business insights, and reporting to support

strategic decision-making across the firm. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with

executive leadership, shape financial planning processes, and drive improvements in analytical

capabilities and reporting standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

• Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
• Produce recurring and ad hoc reports for FinOp and firm leadership, highlighting trends, variances, and key business drivers.
• Analyze financial, operational, and business data to generate insights and support decision-making.
• Build and standardize reporting frameworks, dashboards, and analytics tools.
• Partner with colleagues across FinOp to address business questions and contribute to capability-building initiatives.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• At least two years of experience in financial analysis, data analytics, or another relevant field, along with a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Technical proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis; familiarity with coding or automation tools is preferred.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication skills including the ability to present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated initiative and eagerness to learn new concepts and tools in a dynamic.
• Experience managing sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• The expected annual base salary for this position is $120,000 to $175,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
