Job summary

Nevada State University invites applications for the Student Worker - Financial Aid Clerical Assistant. The student worker will support students, parents and departments with customer service, data collection, walk-in and phone operations, using knowledge of college, state and federal policies on student accounts.

Strong judgment and people skills are essential. Preferred skills include knowledge of PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office, Hyland OnBase and the Kbox Support portal, with bilingual Spanish

Qualifications

• Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
• Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).
• Skilled in problem solving, conflict resolution, time management and organization that promotes working with multiple projects and tasks.
• Ability to maintain a positive service attitude in a fast paced, high-volume customer service-based work environment.
• Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse students and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Explain financial aid policies and procedures to students and the general public.
• Provide guidance in navigating a variety of applications for student aid.
• Answer emails and assist students with financial aid in person and virtually through Phone calls and Zoom appointments.
• The student worker will advise students regarding availability of financial aid, the eligibility requirements, the application process, and provide information regarding financial aid funding options.
