8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.

This position may be eligible for a telework schedule once onboarding into position is complete and with supervisor approval.









Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or office management experience in the student services or related field; or equivalent.

Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the Financial Aid Specialist will be:



  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly reports associated with the Office of Financial Aid involving but not limited to Federal Pell Grant, Federal TEACH Grant, and Transient Study processing.

  • Import and export federal grant files to the Department of Education daily.

  • Serve as the point of contact for transient study program at Charlotte, which will require adjusting aid based on final outcome of courses.

  • Serve as a backup for withdrawal processing, study abroad, and part of term.

  • Provide financial aid counseling both on the telephone, email and in person. This will include providing information regarding financial aid policies and procedures to prospective students as well as current students, parents and other visitors.

Other Work Responsibilities

  • Position works closely with other partner offices to ensure federal compliance for transient study students and withdrawal processing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Experience in Higher Education, preferably Student Services or Financial Aid.

  • Knowledge of Financial Aid regulations and Banner experience.

  • Experience with EdConnect preferred.

  • Strong Critical Thinking Skills.

  • Exceptional Attention to Details

  • Ability and adaptability to change.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
