Job summary

Daytona State College seeks a Financial Aid Counselor to support students at the Flagler/Palm Coast campus. To support onboarding and training, the selected candidate will attend in-person training at our Daytona Beach campus during the initial months of employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience, or Associate degree and two years of related experience.
• Knowledge of financial aid programs, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to communicate with students and College personnel.
• Ability to organize work and handle multiple responsibilities.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Counsels students, parents, and faculty on financial aid programs and regulations; assists students with financial aid applications.
• Determines financial aid eligibility (including verification) and awards financial aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
• Maintains updated knowledge of federal, state, and institutional rules/regulations pertaining to Financial Aid programs.
• Maintains record system and gathers data to support periodic and special reports for the area of responsibility.
• Work extended hours during peak registration periods as needed and be available at other times during the year as deemed necessary by the Dean.
• Conduct Financial Aid nights and group presentations when needed.
• Performs routine office tasks such as data entry, typing, filing, faxing, telephoning, and photocopying.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned and directed by the President or their designee.
