Base pay range

$43,000.00/yr - $45,000.00/yr

Financial Aid Counselor. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, as well as work within a team environment.

Primary responsibilities include packaging students, providing accurate and effective counseling regarding financial aid eligibility to incoming students and their families in completing the financial aid process; assisting in the administration of financial aid programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding all aspects of financial aid
  • Provide and promote excellent customer service to students and parents
  • Monitor and respond to emails and phone calls to the office
  • Manage electronic document retrieval processes including updating student records
  • Assist with technical review of all financial aid applications and preparation of student files
  • Assist with verification and resolution of conflicting information
  • Assist in requesting additional documentation upon review of files
  • Act as liaison between Admissions and student service departments, EOF, TRIO, Student Success
  • Assist in ensuring regulatory compliance in all areas of financial aid, including federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures
  • Participate in regular training and professional organizations to keep abreast of new information and program changes to be implemented
  • Attend weekend and evening student events throughout the Academic Year, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • One to two years of experience in higher education or financial services
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Time management; ability to cope with multiple interruptions and work under pressure of deadlines; attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent office skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • MUST BE US WORK AUTHORIZED **
