Job summary

Centura College is seeking a Financial Aid Officer to guide students through financial services, aid applications, and funding options in a higher education setting. The role involves ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of aid documentation while maintaining strong student relationships.

The position supports enrollment objectives with a focus on eligibility, payment plans, and coordination with campus teams. Evening/weekend availability is required as part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Must not be in default on Federal Student Loans.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to review financial information and resolve issues.
• Strong understanding of financial aid and student account processes with ability to apply regulations.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a compliance-focused environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear explanations.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with campus teams and departments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Willingness to work outside regular hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Meet with incoming students to explain financial requirements and funding options.
• Guide students through required financial aid applications and documentation.
• Process and maintain documentation for funding sources (FAFSA, VA, TA, scholarships).
• Monitor ISIRs and FAFSA status, resolving verification issues and discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate student financial records and update systems.
• Prepare weekly and monthly deposits and coordinate with Corporate Accounting.
• Provide empathetic, high-level student service and policy guidance.
• Attend training and participate in mentoring of new staff.
